Happy Birthday!
This year Rainbows all over the UK have been celebrating Rainbows 21st Birthday. Lots of girls from Stevenage Pin Green District joined others across the
division on a great day out at Shepreth Wildlife Park.
1st Great Ashby Guides celebrated their 1st birthday in September. We welcomed Dawn Easby, DJ with Hertbeat Radio, as our District Ambassador at the Guides
Party and the following morning several items from the party were broadcast across the airwaves! Some funnier soundbites made their way onto the Breakfast
Podcast episode 43 on www.hertbeat.com and some photos are there too.
1st Pin Green Brownies will be celebrating their first birthday in November with a Spooky Walk!
Earlier this year we opened another new unit - 1st Great Ashby Rainbows. This means we now have 4 Rainbow Units, 5 Brownie units and 2 Guide Units in our
district and we plan to open another unit in 2009 so watch this space!
The girls have been having lots of fun with several residential trips over the summer. Rainbows and Brownies had overnight events, Brownies went on Pack
Holiday and both Guide units went camping!
We're now looking towards the end of the year with a fundraising day to be held in November and a District Carol service in December, as well as lots of
Christmas Parties!
The girls are currently choosing projects for the Girlguiding UK "changing the world" challenge in their units.
The leaders, not to be out-done by the girls had a great time in Chicagos in June and had a lovely leaders BBQ in July. They are coming up with their own
"changing the world" projects too. Watch this space for more information of what we get up to!
We are lucky to have recruited some fabulous women to our district over the last year and several leaders have recently completed their adult leadership
qualification - well done to them! However... (there's always a "but" somewhere!) ... for our district to keep going and providing a variety of experiences
for our girls, and to get more girls off our waiting lists, we are always on the look-out for more volunteers. If you would like more info, please get in
touch via the website.
